Marist Vocation Prayer

Marists

At the last provincial council meeting, we received a new draft prayer for vocations from the provincial vocations committee. When I read it, I said to myself, “This is what we need.” What I liked about it was its focus on praying for Marist vocations among young adult males, the recruitment group for our congregation. The members of the provincial council also welcomed this new prayer. We tweaked it slightly and are happy to recommend it for personal and community use.

Heavenly Father,
you never cease to call your people to serve you and your Church.
May we always be grateful for our vocation to do Mary’s work
and to bring your Gospel to the world.

Through your Son, Jesus Christ, we ask you

to raise up new vocations to Marist religious life.
Lord, we ask you to call young men

to be priests and brothers in our little society.

Send us men who will live simply,

pray faithfully, and serve with humility and joy.
Send your Holy Spirit upon their hearts,

to give them clarity, and peace.

Through the intercession of Mary,

our first and perpetual superior,
may they answer your call with courage and hope.
We make this prayer through Christ our Lord. Amen.
