MARIST LAITY
Lay Marists in the World

From the beginning, the Marist project envisaged – together with the Fathers, Brothers, Sisters, Missionary Sisters – a branch open to lay women and men, an association available to all people whatever their situation, age or condition. All are indispensable members of the body of Mary’s Society, sharing the common mission to do and to be the Work of Mary in the world – to build a community of believers with one mind and one heart
There are a range of Marist lay groups and forms of association which exist throughout the world. We recognise a growing desire from these groups to be associated with the Marist project and deepen their understanding of the Marist charism and the works which flow from it. Together with the other branches, Marist Laity is building the Marian face of the church. Their Christian identity is shaped by Marist spirituality and mission as they strive to be Mary’s presence in the world.
In 2007 Marist Laity groups in Europe established a coordination group with regular meetings to coordinate their efforts as a lay branch of the Marist Family.
