The Marist house of La Neylière in France had a vibrant month of May, hosting three events focused on the Marist Mission at La Neylière. This mission has three key goals set by the Province: "Firstly, to facilitate access to the Marist heritage today within a living community and tradition; secondly, to offer opportunities centred on encounter, formation and spirituality; and thirdly, to be at the service of the wider local community, as appropriate."
From 26 to 29 May, a group of educators from Ireland’s three Marist schools - Chanel and CUS in Dublin, and St Mary’s in Dundalk - visited La Neylière. Led by Ken Byrne, CEO of the Marist Education Authority, they explored historic Marist sites like Le Puy, Fourvière, and Cerdon. The trip included guided visits, celebrations, prayers, and lively discussions, all topped off with the warmth and camaraderie the Irish are known for!
From 29 to 31 May, Corinne and Bernard Fenet, along with Father Paul Walsh, led a training session titled “Aux sources de l'Avenir” This was an opportunity for the group to discover the Marist family, with a talk by Sr Teri O’Brien on behalf of the Marist Sisters, a visit to the communities of Hermitage and La Valla to learn more about the Marist Brothers, and a presentation by Sr Hélène Diouf on the Marist Missionary Sisters.
On Saturday, 30 May, La Neylière opened its doors to locals and friends for a brainstorming session. The goal? To share ideas, identify both worldwide and community needs, and explore ways to support related projects at La Neylière. Around 25-30 people attended, and the next step is turning these ideas into action.
