For more than 70 years, Chanel College - a Catholic school in the Marist tradition - has opened its doors to generations of young people from the wider Coolock area. While its fundamental purpose of delivering excellent education and serving local families remains constant, this year marks a historic milestone as Chanel College welcomes girls alongside boys for the very first time.
This co-educational transition is not a departure from tradition, but an evolution of it. "What changes is who now gets the opportunity to be part of it, and I think that is something worth celebrating," said Principal Mr. Gill during his welcome address.
To support this growth, the school recently redeveloped an acquired building, naming it the Colin Building in honor of Jean-Claude Colin, founder of the Marist Fathers. Just as physical spaces on campus take on new life, Chanel College is embracing new possibilities while staying deeply rooted in its Marist heritage. For the Class of 2031, this is the beginning of an exciting new chapter.
We invite our entire community to stay connected as our school family grows. Visit the Chanel College website to read Mr. Gill’s full address, explore the redeveloped campus, and follow our social channels for updates throughout the year!
