La Neylière is a historic Marist community and pilgrimage site located near Lyon in South-Eastern France, serving as one of the foundational places in the Society of Mary's heritage. The region is home to several sites of significance to Marists worldwide, for Marist Fathers, Sisters, Brothers and Laity. The community at la Neylière continues to welcome visitors and members seeking to deepen their connection to Marist spirituality and tradition. It stands as a living testament to over two centuries of religious commitment and spiritual formation within the Marist family.
During August, the Marist community at La Neylière had the privilege of welcoming five students from Casa di Maria in Rome - the Marist formation house - as they prepared to make their perpetual vows in the Society of Mary. Their visit was more than just an opportunity to discover the places where the Marist story began. It is hoped they also came to recognise that the story continues to be written through their own lives and vocation.
For the community, opening its doors and offering hospitality is a privilege, a way of accompanying the next generation as they reconnect with a story that began in this part of the world more than two centuries ago. While Marist history can be encountered in its pilgrimage places, it is also discovered in a different and very personal way through the people met along the journey.
The community was truly blessed to have the opportunity to welcome the five young Marists and the formator who accompanied them, and wishes them every blessing as they prepare to make their perpetual commitment and continue to write the Marist story in their hands for the generations to come.
