Kiribati er et sv\u00e6rt fattig land som er avhengig av bistand fra st\u00f8rre nasjoner som Australia og USA. Da jeg vokste opp p\u00e5 \u00f8yene, var livet enkelt, og vi var avhengige av havet og landjorda for \u00e5 livn\u00e6re oss. I dag er vi mer avhengige av penger, og vi ser p\u00e5 utdanning som avgj\u00f8rende for fremtiden v\u00e5r. Klimaendringene er en alvorlig trussel mot landet mitt, men folket v\u00e5rt tror fortsatt p\u00e5 Guds plan. <strong><em>Min misjon\u00e6ropplevelse har overg\u00e5tt alt jeg kunne ha forestilt meg.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>F\u00f8r jeg kom til Notre Dame de France, tjenestegjorde jeg p\u00e5 Salomon\u00f8yene, der jeg underviste ved Nazareth Apostolic Centre Pre-Seminary and Catechetical Centre (2018-2024). Der formet vi unge mennesker i troen og forberedte dem p\u00e5 \u00e5 bli effektive kristne ledere i lokalsamfunnene sine.  Jeg begynte i Notre Dame de France i mars i \u00e5r. <strong><em>Ankomsten til London var nok et kultursjokk<\/em> <\/strong>veldig forskjellig fra mitt forrige oppdrag. N\u00e5 hjelper jeg til p\u00e5 flyktningmottaket og i sm\u00f8rbr\u00f8dserveringen. P\u00e5 mandager jobber jeg i mottakssenteret, der jeg m\u00f8ter mennesker fra land som Elfenbenskysten, Kongo, Algerie og Iran. P\u00e5 torsdager hjelper jeg til med engelskundervisning for flyktninger, og p\u00e5 l\u00f8rdager hjelper jeg til med \u00e5 tilberede og dele ut sm\u00f8rbr\u00f8d til hjeml\u00f8se og marginaliserte. Jeg samarbeider ogs\u00e5 med menighetslivet og andre NDF-aktiviteter.    <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>I juli hadde jeg gleden av \u00e5 delta p\u00e5 et franskkurs i Paris, noe som var en fantastisk opplevelse, selv om jeg ikke mestret alt. Etterp\u00e5 deltok jeg p\u00e5 en retreat p\u00e5 <strong> <em>La Neyli\u00e8re og ble imponert over stedets skj\u00f8nnhet og b\u00f8nnens atmosf\u00e6re.<\/em> <\/strong> Jeg h\u00e5per \u00e5 komme tilbake en dag. Merci beaucoup.\"<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>S\u00f8ster<em> Aqela Likulagi Vere<\/em> <em>skriver<\/em>:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\"Jeg er s\u00f8ster Aqela Likulagi Vere fra Fiji, og jeg har v\u00e6rt misjon\u00e6r i Mariasamfunnet (SMSM) siden 1987.  <strong><em>Jeg har tjenestegjort i Oseania, Afrika og Europa, der jeg har jobbet med undervisning, r\u00e5dgivning og sosialt arbeid.<\/em><\/strong>  Flyet landet p\u00e5 Heathrow en kald morgen 27. november 2024, i det landet som skal bli mitt hjem de neste tre \u00e5rene.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Jeg fortsetter n\u00e5 min misjon ved Notre Dame de France i London. Da jeg ankom, fikk jeg en varm velkomst p\u00e5 familievis av v\u00e5re prestebr\u00f8dre: fedrene Hubert, Martin, Pascal og Christian. Selv om det var annerledes enn det jeg var vant til, fant jeg meg raskt til rette i kommunitetslivet. Jeg var den eneste SMSM-en her frem til mars 2025.   <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Jeg har utforsket de mange aktivitetene i Notre Dame og tilbudt min hjelp der det har v\u00e6rt behov for det: p\u00e5 flyktningesenteret, i sm\u00f8rbr\u00f8dtjenesten og i de eksisterende menighetsgruppene. I prestetjenesten hjelper jeg til med katekismeundervisningen, noe som ogs\u00e5 har f\u00f8rt til at jeg har bes\u00f8kt andre sentre og m\u00f8tt kateketer og studenter. Jeg deltar i aktiviteter i menighetspresteskapet som retreater, workshops, brorskapsm\u00f8ter og Marist-arrangementer i utdanningen.
