Hun visie werd alomvattend: deze 'Soci\u00ebteit van Maria' waartoe zij zich verbonden, zou in \u00e9\u00e9n beweging priesters, broeders, zusters en een derde orde van lekenmannen en -vrouwen omvatten. In een ontkerstend Frankrijk voerden de Paters Maristen missies uit op het platteland en richtten scholen op. In 1836 stemden ze er op verzoek van de paus mee in om naar Oceani\u00eb te gaan en nieuwe missiegebieden te stichten. De stichter, een jonge Franse pater Marist Marcellinus Champagnat, maakte deel uit van de Fourvi\u00e8re-groep van twaalf en beantwoordde aan deze behoeften door jonge mannen op te leiden tot leraren. De Zusters Maristen erkennen Jean-Claude Colin als hun stichter en Jeanne-Marie Chavoin als hun stichteres. Ze leefde als lid van de Derde Orde van Maria en diende vooral de vrouwen en kinderen van het eiland. In 1931 werden de Missionary Sisters of the Society of Mary goedgekeurd als religieuze congregatie.  <\/p>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><div class=\"et_pb_row_9 et_pb_row et_block_row preset--module--divi-row--default\"><div class=\"et_pb_column_14 et_pb_column et_pb_column_4_4 et-last-child et_block_column et_pb_css_mix_blend_mode_passthrough\"><div class=\"et_pb_text_13 et_pb_text et_pb_bg_layout_light et_animated et_pb_module et_block_module et_pb_text_align_center\"><div class=\"et_pb_text_inner\"><p><em>\"<strong>We willen reageren op de oproepen van vandaag met de durf en ijver van de pioniers. De betrokkenheid van leken bij de Maristenfamilie werd door Sint-Juliaan Eymard vormgegeven als de Derde Orde van de Soci\u00ebteit van Maria. Sindsdien heeft het zich ontwikkeld tot een grote verscheidenheid aan Maristengroepen van gelovige leken in verschillende delen van de wereld. Wat hun naam ook is, deze groepen verzamelen mannen en vrouwen, gehuwd of ongehuwd, gezinnen en vrienden, die ge\u00efnspireerd willen worden door de Maristenintu\u00eftie om hun betrokkenheid als leken in de Kerk en in de wereld te leven.   <\/p>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><div class=\"et_pb_row_11 et_pb_row et_block_row preset--module--divi-row--default\"><div class=\"et_pb_column_17 et_pb_column et_pb_column_4_4 et-last-child et_block_column et_pb_css_mix_blend_mode_passthrough\"><div class=\"et_pb_text_16 et_pb_text et_pb_bg_layout_light et_animated et_pb_module et_block_module et_pb_text_align_center\"><div class=\"et_pb_text_inner\"><p><em>\"<span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">T<strong>et onderscheidende kenmerk van leken-Maristen is de stijl van hun zending.
