Christina Ball escribe desde Londres: <\/em><\/p>\n\n

Soy Directora del Centro de Refugiados de Notre Dame (NDRC) desde hace unos 18 meses y mi trabajo me resulta incre\u00edblemente gratificante. Como trabajo en un equipo peque\u00f1o, es f\u00e1cil ver de primera mano c\u00f3mo nuestro trabajo marca una diferencia real en la vida de los refugiados y solicitantes de asilo m\u00e1s vulnerables. <\/p>\n\n

El Centro de Refugiados fue creado hace 28 a\u00f1os por los maristas de Notre Dame de France, como respuesta a la crisis pol\u00edtica que se viv\u00eda entonces en la Rep\u00fablica Democr\u00e1tica del Congo. Muchos africanos franc\u00f3fonos que hu\u00edan de la agitaci\u00f3n en su pa\u00eds se unieron a la congregaci\u00f3n de la iglesia, lo que llev\u00f3 a los sacerdotes y feligreses a querer hacer m\u00e1s para ayudar a los que buscaban hacer del Reino Unido su hogar. <\/p>\n\n

Desde entonces, el centro ha crecido, aunque sigue siendo una peque\u00f1a organizaci\u00f3n ben\u00e9fica con estatuto propio, donde ofrecemos asesoramiento experto en inmigraci\u00f3n junto con una serie de servicios de apoyo y, sobre todo, una c\u00e1lida acogida. Con una plantilla de s\u00f3lo siete personas, la mayor\u00eda a tiempo parcial, contamos con el apoyo de m\u00e1s de 30 voluntarios de todas las profesiones y condiciones sociales, incluidos algunos sacerdotes y feligreses. <\/p>\n\n

El Centro de Refugiados sigue siendo una parte vital de la misi\u00f3n de la Sociedad de Mar\u00eda, y disfrutamos de una s\u00f3lida relaci\u00f3n de trabajo con la comunidad marista, participando en diferentes actividades a lo largo del a\u00f1o. En el d\u00eda a d\u00eda vemos con regularidad al P. Pascal y al P. Martin, aunque s\u00f3lo sea para una breve charla o nos encontremos m\u00e1s formalmente en las reuniones de los administradores. Esta misma semana hemos tenido una excursi\u00f3n conjunta del personal, en la que los equipos del Centro y de la Iglesia han disfrutado de una partida de petanca bastante competitiva junto al T\u00e1mesis. <\/p>\n\n

En 2024, tuve el privilegio de ser invitada a visitar La Neyli\u00e8re, donde aprend\u00ed mucho m\u00e1s sobre la historia y la misi\u00f3n marista, lo que me inspir\u00f3 enormemente y me aport\u00f3 una nueva y valiosa perspectiva del trabajo que realizo cada d\u00eda, as\u00ed como la comprensi\u00f3n de que la raz\u00f3n por la que se fund\u00f3 la organizaci\u00f3n hace tantos a\u00f1os es tan importante hoy como lo era entonces.<\/p>\n\n
