El proyecto marista surgi\u00f3 tras la <\/span>Revoluci\u00f3n Francesa<\/b>: Fue una \u00e9poca de agitaci\u00f3n e incertidumbre, que produjo una divisi\u00f3n entre la Iglesia y la sociedad francesa. Hab\u00eda un movimiento para restaurar la posici\u00f3n de poder de la Iglesia, mientras que otros, entre ellos los maristas, buscaban un nuevo camino. Reconoc\u00edan que la gente de su tiempo necesitaba escuchar el Evangelio desde una Iglesia m\u00e1s humilde, discreta y modesta, que siguiera el modelo de la Madre de Jes\u00fas. <\/span><\/p>\n

La Sociedad de Mar\u00eda comenz\u00f3 en el Santuario de Nuestra Se\u00f1ora de Fourvi\u00e8re, en Lyon (Francia), el 23 de julio de 1816, cuando doce seminaristas, entre ellos su futuro fundador, Juan Claudio Colin, subieron los empinados escalones que llevan la cima de la colina de Fourvi\u00e8re, y se consagraron a Mar\u00eda. Prometieron fundar una nueva orden religiosa en la Iglesia, un grupo llamado \"Maristas\" y comprometieron sus vidas al servicio de los dem\u00e1s en el esp\u00edritu de Mar\u00eda. <\/span><\/p>\n
